2026-2027 JETAASE Election Nominations

Do you want to make friends, stay connected to your time on JET and be involved in the Japan community in the Southeast? Now's your chance - become a JETAASE officer!

Anyone within our membership can run for office, you do not need to physically live in Atlanta where the consulate is located. Board meetings are held online monthly for approximately an hour. Training for each role is available by previous Board members!

We are asking for platforms of all interested candidates to be submitted by February 23rd to president@jetaase.org If you’re interested in joining the JETAASE board, please submit a platform!

What we need from you

✅Less than 200 words statement telling: 

  • Your self-introduction, including where and when you were on JET

  • What you want to accomplish in your time as an office

✅Headshot if you’d like to share one

The following platforms are open:

🎩 President – The President provides overall leadership and direction for JETAASE, guiding the organization’s strategy, operations, and priorities. They work closely with the Board to ensure initiatives align with JETAASE’s mission, support alumni engagement, and move the organization forward. The President presides over board meetings, helps coordinate board efforts, and serves as a key representative of JETAASE to partners, alumni, and the broader community.


💼 Vice President – The Vice President supports the President and Board by helping move projects and initiatives forward and staying closely informed on chapter priorities. They serve as a key thought partner to the President, help coordinate efforts across roles, and step in to represent JETAASE at events, meetings, and engagements as needed. This role plays a critical part in maintaining continuity, momentum, and leadership presence.

📝 Secretary – The Secretary supports the Board by keeping JETAASE organized and well-documented. They record and share meeting notes, maintain chapter records, and help ensure continuity across leadership transitions. The Secretary collaborates with communications roles to support clear, consistent messaging and may represent JETAASE at events as needed.

📱 Social Media Coordinator – The Social Media Coordinator strengthens JETAASE’s visibility and engagement by managing the chapter’s social media presence. They create and schedule content that highlights events, celebrates alumni, and promotes opportunities aligned with JETAASE’s mission. This role helps ensure timely, consistent, and authentic communication across platforms, collaborates with other board members to amplify initiatives, and monitors engagement to foster a connected and vibrant alumni community. 


📰Newsletter Editor – The Newsletter Editor compiles information from various sources and composes email newsletters to share the details of events and other resources with our membership. The Newsletter Editor collaborates with the rest of the Board to ensure information is disseminated in a timely manner. Newsletters should be composed at least quarterly. No previous experience with Constant Contact necessary


💬 Discord Coordinator – The Discord Coordinator shall be responsible for the management and moderation of JETAASE’s Discord server. They shall oversee the organization of channels, facilitate communication among members, and support community engagement by sharing announcements, resources, and updates as directed by the Board. The Discord Coordinator shall ensure the server remains a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive space aligned with JETAASE’s mission and activities.


February 16th - 23rd: Self-nominations due

February 25th - 27th: Voting period in which ballots may be submitted

March 2nd: Announcement of new officers
